Flexible Work Arrangements

Guidelines for Flexible Work Arrangements (FWAs)

FWAs can provide an employment experience that fosters employee engagement, allowing employees to perform at their highest levels. When implemented consistently and equitably, FWAs are a powerful business strategy that can promote employee retention and recruitment, boost morale, and increase productivity. It is important that the use of flexible work supports both the employee and the business needs of the department or unit.

All employees who engage in flexible work must submit a Flexible Work Arrangement Form and either the Telework or Non-Telework Arrangement, as appropriate for their situation. To accomplish this, follow these steps:

  1. Fill out a Flexible Work Arrangement Form (PDF) and either the Flexible Work Arrangement Agreement for Telework (PDF) or Flexible Work Arrangement Agreement for Non-Telework (PDF).
  2. Obtain supervisory signature on both the form and agreement.
  3. Submit PDFs of completed and approved forms via Box upload. HRSS will then upload PDFs into Workday.

FWAs should be reviewed at minimum once per year and always during the performance appraisal process. Employees and managers should always be aware of the status of FWAs and should maintain open dialogue around the effectiveness of the FWA.
