UT New Employee Orientation (NEWO)
The New Employee Welcome and Orientation, hosted by Human Resources (HR), is a one-stop-shop that provides you with a comprehensive introduction to employment and benefits at The University of Texas at Austin. This is also where you will complete many items such as:
- Getting your ID Card and upgrade your EID
- Getting payroll information
- Completing your I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification
- Reviewing your Insurance coverage
- Learning about Parking and alternative transportation options
- Reviewing required Compliance Training
- And many other topics that will be very helpful as you begin your UT employment
If you are a new employee, Human Resources Support Services will schedule you to attend the university’s new employee orientation, which is held every Monday from 8:15 a.m. to approximately 11:00 a.m. at the UT Administration Building (UTA), 3.404. A confirmation email will be sent to you with additional details.
Check with your manager, if it is not on your schedule.
New Employee Checklist
There are a number of compliance items that will need to be completed on your first day, 1st week and 1st month of employment. The checklist below lists them all with detailed instructions and links to guide you. Please use this as a resource in addition to any new hire information your department has provided you.
New Employee Performance
As a new classified employee you will have a probationary period of 180 days. During this time, you will receive three evaluations by your supervisor/manager. These evaluations will be given 45 days, 90 days, and 135 days into your probation. Any areas identified for improvement will be documented and discussed with you.
